What is an assessment?
A DWI Substance use assessment is required of everyone convicted of Driving While Impaired in North Carolina. You cannot receive a Limited Driving Privilege without a DWI Assessment. DWI and Substance Use assessments and groups can only be conducted by facilities licensed by the state of North Carolina to meet the requirements to restore your driver's license.
The cost of all NC DWI Assessments is $100.00. The State legislature establishes the $100 fee. No agency in the state is ever allowed by law to charge more or less than the lawful $100 fee. We were informed that the legislature is considering changing this fee to $150.00 in 2025.
If you would like to schedule an appointment with one of our counselors for your DWI Assessment, don't hesitate to get in touch with our office. We offer same-day assessments and walk-ins. To reduce wait time, you may call ahead.
To ensure accuracy, please bring a copy of your current NC Driving Record (available online at NCDOT.GOV, or you may find your attorney or insurance company can provide you with a non-certified copy). We can pull this document for you. You will need to pay the NCDMV fee of $15.99. Please also bring your blood alcohol concentration reading. (Available at the court clerk, or your attorney may have a copy). We can pull this for you if you do not have it.
Your $100.00 assessment fee is due at the time of your appointment. Our offices accept card and cash payments and money orders. No checks, please.
An Alcohol/Drug Assessment, where no DWI was involved, does not include the same state-required components’ (Driving record & Standardized tool). If you have a need for an alcohol or drug assessment that is not in conjunction with a DWI we can complete that assessment at a lower cost to you. You will still receive a thorough assessment.
If you would like to set up an appointment with one of our counselors for your Non-DWI Alcohol/Drug Assessment, please contact the office that is located most conveniently near you.
